Massive Grind Range, World-Class Quality

Ordinary mills can only grind pepper in the 12-28 mesh size range. The XL Pepper Cannon can grind from 8 to over 60. It can grind coarse enough for stocks and roast beef, and finer than the pre-ground pepper you have been forced to buy because your mill wasn’t up to the task. A double-bearing supported drive shaft that powers high-carbon stainless steel burrs ensure you get the best grind, every time.

REASON 1: 50% more capacity. The XL Pepper Cannon holds 3/4 cup of peppercorns, compared to 1/2 cup capacity of the original Pepper Cannon. Do you need more capacity? Only if you're refilling your mill twice a month or more.

FAQ

Isn’t $249 Expensive for a Pepper Mill?

Yes, it is. And a Ferrari is expensive compared to a Volkswagen.

The XL Pepper Cannon was engineered and built for performance, and it performs exceptionally well.

Why is The XL Pepper Cannon easier to crank?

The radius of the top is effectively the lever creating a mechanical advantage. Increase the lever length, crank easier. That's why coffee mills us a long crank handle.

Can I buy just the XL top for my OG Pepper Cannon?

No, the XL Pepper Cannon is only sold a complete unit at this time.

Do I need the extra capacity?

No pepper mill is airtight, so your peppercorns will slowly grow stale inside your mill. This happens faster in humid environments, and slower in dry environments. You're best off only filling ANY mill with the amount you'll use in 30 days or less, and storing excess peppercorns in an airtight container.

But Will There Be Too Much Pepper?

No. There will be the exact amount of pepper you want, ground more consistently, in a fraction of the time.

If you want to decrease the output, either crank it less or adjust the pepper cannon to a finer setting.

Can I Grind Salt in My XL Pepper Cannon?

No, salt will corrode the stainless steel internals eventually.

Does the XL Pepper Cannon put out a lot of pepper at all settings?

No, the finer the grind, the less pepper comes out.

You can adjust the XL Pepper Cannon so fine that pepper stops coming out completely.

We call this setting "invisibly fine" or "inert iocane powder".

Why do you endorse the grind & shake method?

Every pepper mill can drop remnants of pepper after grinding when you set it down.

After grinding, give the XL Pepper Cannon (or any other pepper mill) one shake above whatever you're seasoning before putting it down.

This helps prevent wasting pepper and leaving pepper where you don't want it.

Will I have to refill my XL Pepper Cannon frequently?

That depends on your use. The Cannon holds a 3/4 cup of peppercorns, which is generous.

If you don't go through that amount of peppercorns each month and don't need the slighlty higher output, the original Pepper Cannon may be a better fit for you.

Will the XL Pepper Cannon come pre-filled with peppercorns?

The XL Pepper Cannon will ship empty, because we don't hate you, and wouldn't ask you to eat pepper that has sat in an unsealed mill for an indeterminate period of time. Instead, we offer a variety of premium peppercorns you can pair with your new favorite grinder.

Can I grind red peppercorns, and white peppercorns, and green peppercorns, and coffee, and cloves, and fennel, and anise, and coriander in it?

Yes.

You should get one Pepper Cannon for each of those things though, or your coffee will taste extra bold & special.

Is the XL Pepper Cannon available in different colors? I want one for each spice!

The XL Pepper Cannon is only available in black, but it comes with three user raplaceable top buttons in silver, black, and red.

How do I clean my XL Pepper Cannon?

Wipe the exterior with a warm damp cloth or paper towel. It is recommended to keep the interior of the Pepper Cannon dry. If you must wash it, be certain to dry the interior thoroughly before refilling as it uses dry bearings, and they need to be kept dry. Do not put any Pepper Cannon in the dishwasher.

What if I don’t like pepper?

    How do you improve on an already great design? By increasing the capacity and maintaining that pepper grinding capability you’ve come to expect from the Pepper Cannon.

    The larger footprint looks nice in the kitchen and on the table.

    Heavy, but awesome!

    The XL version is surprisingly heavy for its size, but not heavy enough to cause a problem except for the frail or very young. When empty, the grinder spins effortlessly and silently on bearings - you can feel the quality engineering and construction. It produces prodigious amounts of pepper even at a fine grind - for my plate I seldom need more than a fraction of 1 turn. Where this grinder excels is cooking; you can grind a Tablespoon of pepper in 5-10 seconds.

    This pepper mill is truly outstanding! It’s super easy to fill and the grind is amazing. Looks great on the counter as well.

    We use the base to pre grind a large quantity for prepping meats.

    Overall it’s a great design.

    This pepper mill is large, but I thought it would be bigger based on the description. I still like it. And find it to be great quality with excellent engineering.

    Just plan on loading a lot of pepper in it.
